Red Yeast Rice and Alcohol Use

Hello…I have been taking red yeast rice for 3 years or so now to help maintain cholesterol levels.  I just learned that there is an increased risk of liver damage when using this supplement while consuming alcohol.  Needless to say I have been doing this for the last 3 years.  Wanted to see if I should be concerned and also if I should stop using the supplements.

Hello~You would need to have a blood draw for liver enzymes to see if your liver is OK.

I would not stop using the supplements, they are very important, I would stop, however,  consuming the alcohol. That is far more dangerous to liver health than the red yeast rice.
