my son

Hi,my son is 9 years old .For the last 8 days he has been very unwell. His symptons are a very sore throat so sore that he hasnt eaten for 8 days.He also cant drink as this hurts to swallow. He has slept for 21 hours out of 24.He looks grey.He is also getting lots of phlegm(is that how u spell it)in his mouth. On his first day of illness he was sick but this hasnt continued. His temperature is up and down.He did start to recover four days into this illness then the next day he was worse than ever.I have been to the docs twice and he says its a virus.i am geytting very worried to the point of sleeping in his room at night!should i accept the docs verdict(he told me to give him lots of icecream which seemed laughable considering the state my son was in.I shall appreciate any advice.thankyou.

I hope your boy is okay now, and actually ice cream can soothe a sore throat and make him feel good , I hope you tried it, he could have had tonsilitas or a virus and it would be a matter of time, its hard to see our kids suffer isnt it you are a caring parent and you hate them suffering. If he is still sick take him back foir further check it will have been long enough, Hope hes Fine.
