Hi Katobow;
I can't say for certain, but I was wondering if maybe it could be a planters wart (sp.?). Years ago I used to do a lot of snorkeling & diving, twice I thought I had stepped bare foot on either glass or a pebble while walking along the shoreline. I had what looked like a small circular hole in my foot, an extreme brusing feeling, it became so painful to walk on after a few days I thought perhaps I still had a sliver in my foot. I tweezed a little white thing out of my foot, then soon after I noticed a small callus forming with a reddish color around it, the bruising feeling continued and became much worse. I found out that I had a planters wart, and according to everyone I talked to the worst thing you can do is keep using tweezers on it. Just to be on the safe side check with your Dr. if the pain continues, also keep in mind that there are over the counter topical medicines you can buy.
Good Luck!
You need to see a physician and get a 3T MRI. An x-ray probably won't show much.
If it is a Plantar's wart you need to see a specialist. If it is a fragment you have to make a decision as to whether you desire surgical removal.
A close friend stepped on a piece of glass bottle and it took thirty-seven years for it to work itself out.
Thank you but, no, it's not a plantar's wart. I've had one of those before. I had actually pulled the shell out of my foot right after it happened. It does feel like something is in there, even more so than yesterday and I have a yoga class today. : ( Amazingly, with plantar's warts, or any wart, apple cider vinegar kills them right off within days. Took one off my son's finger in 2 nights and killed a plantar's in about 4 nights. But thank you for your comment.
Hello! : ) I guess I'll probably have to go see a doctor then. In 37 years, if that's how long it could take to come out, I'll be 82 and I won't want to still be dealing with this then. I'll mention the MRI, or see if they say that. I was just hoping it wouldn't be a big deal but now I'm really wondering. Yoga this morning may be a bit painful but it's just an easy class. Tomorrow's class is the one I'll be worried about with the foot pain. I know it's not a plantar's wart because I had actually pulled the stupid pointy tiny shell out of the injury. The pain is starting to radiate up to my ankle this morning. Of all too, it's Friday and the worst day to need a doctor here. Thank you!
Removing such a fragment is not a job for a brain surgeon. They inject you with licocaine, make a slice with the grain of the tissue, taking care not to sever a nerve, remove the fragment, suture you up, and send you home with a packet of pain pills. These fragments generally do not travel very far.
are you still out there? I am having the same issue, just wondering your out come.
Yes, it's still there. It no longer hurts so I'm just waiting until the end of the month when I have an scheduled appointment to see my doctor. It hasn't moved any further in and seems to be just stuck in the outer layers because I can still feel it there when I touch it.
Hello I had the same thing happen to me back in 2010 around may. I was just walking around the kitchen and this piece of glass went right in my foot. Could'nt get it out at all. Went to several doctors they all said that if they can't see on x ray or ultrasound that they just leave it in there. they don't want to take a chance to do exploratery surgery because then it will be more painful and the risk of not finding it at all if it is really small.. i'ts scary to me to leave it in there because i think it went up my leg were the crease of you leg is underneath the knee cap. I can feel a bruising feeling and pricking at the same time there. it might of broken into smaller pieces because i still feel the pricking and pain in the heel and now also in the back of the leg were the crease is sometimes also in the inner thigh. has anyone ever had that happened were it might of gone up the leg at all? :(
