unusual breathing

I'll be, say, sitting in the car breathing normally , when I have this unexpected quick intake of breath.
this has been going on for about the last 4 months,
should I be concerned??

I was wondering if that may be stress related,,, last year I was made redundant and became full time carer for husband. When this started Christmas was coming up, a lump on husband's neck was enlarging etc. The combination may be a bit more than what my sub-conscience could take.
I will keep tabs on this and if it continues will go to GP. thank you.

Since this has been going on for 4 months, I would recommend consulting your physician to rule out anything possibly underlying going on.

In my opinion, I wouldn't recommend "writing this off" and "assuming" it is stress-related.  It may or may NOT be.

Better safe than sorry.

Sounds like you are anxious my friend. Or stressed. Sometimes we don't even know what is making us anxious and stressed... but regardless, if you can figure out what's been stressful in your life lately, and deal with it, it'll help. I suggest trying meditation =) helped me.

I have that too. Sometimes I just take in a sudden breath, and then my breathing returns to normal. I never gave it much thought really.

I have that at times, for me, it is just anxiety and stress. I would not give it much thought, it seems that being anxious can cause this as can be nervous or stressed. Try to relax and not worry, and, if it ever does progress, then ask your primary doctor.
