If you are taking 4x/day then that would be 80 mg not 60 mg, which is not alot of extra calcium/day. Adults need between 1000-1500 mg of calcium/day. You definitely don't need to be taking any extra if your level is high at this time. I would ask your physician for recommendations about what else to take instead of the Peri-colace.
Exactly how high was the level?
1000MG Calcium is a day's worth, 100%. So, 60MG isn't that much.
Magnesium balances calcium out, so you may need to take magnesium.
Some of the safer and more effective forms of magnesium include: Taurate, Glycinate and Citrate (latter can be laxitative, so take with food).
I was just reading the link between vitamin D and MS, a lack of being a possible cause. I think the amount I read for an adult woman was 50mgs.
Stupid me lol you are right it is 80mg and not 60 it was late last night or I should say early this morning when I posted just before I went to bed and my brain was not into math. My calcium has been 11.3, 10.3 my dr thinks I have primary hyperparathyroidisim. Last night when I was taking my colace I noticed it had calcium and then I thought Oh no I hope thats not messing with my calcium # I was not aware it contained calcium and I know I checked the bottle before.
That amount should not hurt you at all. Compnet gave the right numbers and how to take it.
I would ask your physician about discontinuing the Peri-Colace or not. Your level is slightly elevated, but definitely should be monitored closely. In my opinion, the Peri-Colace should be stopped or the dosage decreased and the calcium rechecked. If the count is still elevated after that, then I would consider the possibility of hyperparathyroidism and consult an Endocrinologist.
BTW: easy mistake when typing especially typing while tired. :)
