chronic neck pain

At about 3-4 years ago I started to get chronic pains on my left side in the shoulder neck area (upper trapezius).

I had a x-ray done but was told there is no sign of arthritis and no disk problems and to just get a massage.

I would like to know why is this happening.

I do recall at the point that this happened I had had a really intense training session.

I have tried massages they seem to help but not cure it.

is it possible to cure if so how?

thank you for your help.

I don't think its severe, but I do think you should continue to get that neck massage. are you stress or worried, because it might contribute to the pain be careful; are you hypertensive?, I hope I make some sense.good luck
