Breathing Affects Baby?

Okay, this might sound silly, but I figure it's better to ask.
Can using "labor breathing" trick your body into Braxton Hicks or contractions? I use it a lot after sitting/standing up or when little guy is really giving me grief.
I also use it often when my asthma is trying to give me some trouble.
I just really want to make sure he stays in there as long as possible and with minimal stress. I'm 23 weeks 4 days and everything has gone smoothly so far.

I cannot imagine it causing braxton hicks or contractions but if you did it for a long period of time it might put yourself and your baby under more stress than it is helping.  This is especially true if you are not getting enough oxygen as the baby won't be getting enough oxygen either.  Whenever you have an asthma attack or need to relax try taking slow, deep breaths while breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.  Best to close your mouth while breathing in through nose then open to breath out through the mouth.  This is called pursed lip breathing.  I was taught to do this by both a respiratory therapist for asthma and a counselor for relaxation.  Hope this helps!  Enjoy your pregnancy!!

Any type of breathing technique will not induce baby to come any quicker.

You are just over half way through your pregnancy.

Your baby will come when the time is right and he is ready.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and have a good labour.

Best wishes.
