menstruation

ive been bleeding since i was 10,now imnearly 52 id love to know when this is likely to end.im regular as clockwork and get clots and occasional flooding,some days im almost scared to leave the house,and dont trust my body anymore,for godsake when is this likely to be over?

Hi Petal, Ok as a man and thinking, have you ever been to a doctor about you problem, and just why has/she been leting it go on so long or have you had tests but you have not told us that.

You should be going into menopause soon or be in it already. Do you take birth control pills? Those can sometimes make you have a period longer than you would even if you are entering menopause. Another thought is perhaps you have fibroids? These can cause bleeding. Do you have any pelvic pain? They can also regulate your periods to make them less heavy by giving you birth control and so forth. You should see your doctor to get an exam if you haven't had one recently. Menstration differs for everyone and going into menopause does as well.
