Left Jaw Ache

I'm 22.  Healthy history.  A couple days ago, I was chewing a lot of gum.  yesterday, i noticed my left jaw (lower) was aching a little.  today it is aching still, slightly more.  still not too bad.

anyway, i googled the symptom.  it's apparently a warning sign for a heart attack.  so pretty scared  it's almost 1 am.  should i rush out to the ER?

Thanks!

If you were having a heart attack, you would have experienced other symptoms and not just a jaw ache.

You said that you chewed a lot of gum and that is exactly why you have experienced jaw ache.  I get the same problem if I chew a lot of gum - best thing is to limit your chewing on gum, or avoid gum altogether.  Chewing gum is quite morrish so you can end up chewing for far too long.

If you feel like chewing on something, have a piece of fruit.

Chances are that since you were so scared about that symptom of jaw ache, that you already went to the ER.  IF not, jaw pain can be signs of other issues, especially after having chewed lots of gum.  You could have something known as TMJ and that causes jaw pain.  TemperoMandibularJoint disease can be brought on by repetitive movement of the lower jaw, which can cause lots of pain.  You could also have a blocked salivary gland known as siladentits, which causes jaw pain.  I would recommend seeing an MD if you have not done so already.  Both of the issues I mentioned can be treated with medicine.  IF it's siladenitis, it will require an antibiotic to treat.  If it's just TMJ, it can be treated with anti-inflammatory medication.
