temporal ateries

the arteries in the sides of my temples are swollen. They go down but not all the way flat at night, but in the daytime they are swollen.  The nerve in near the temple that comes out of the process was pushed on very hard at one time, and the temporal arteries were pressed on hard in many spots and the the assailants twisted their thumbs back and forth on the arteries.   There is a pulse in the arteries.

I do not know if with giant cell arteritis if the arteries stay swollen at all times, even at night, or if they go down and then swell up again.  There is some tenderness on one side, but no fever, or other symptoms beyond some eye discomfort that may be coming from the allergy that I have, and a dental issue.  ????????

For starts, please consult your Family Physician/PCP to assess you.  If you are under the age 50, doubt the diagnosis is Giant Cell Arteritis.

I found this i hope it helps some...

Could either be a vein or artery - difficult to tell on the picture.  As mentioned below, it can be inflammation of a vein - known as phlebitis and can be treated conservatively.

If there is concern about temporal arteritis, blood tests looking for inflammation can help with the diagnosis.  Markers of inflammation, such as a sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein can be elevated in cases of temporal arteritis.

You can discuss these options with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
