About a year ago me and my husband moved from California to Washington state. So we went from the dessert to a very moist state where it is very humid and rains 6 months out of the year. Long story short my husband had his very first flare up of uvetitis a month after we moved here. He had blood work done to rule out any autoimmune diseases causing the uvetitis. Everything came back normal but he tested positive for the HLA-B27 gene. So now we know he has uvetitis caused by this gene. He is now seeing a specialist because he has had about 6 flare ups just in the last year. My question Is, could the change in environment have triggered this HLA-B27 associated eye disease? Could the environment be causing it to reoccur? Or is it just a coincidence that his eyes started flaring up after we moved?
