3 months is a lifetime

I had a very drunken, very high risk exposure 6 weeks ago (unprotected vaginal sex with a male who's girlfriend is sex worker in Mexico and I have HSV2 but there was no ejaculation).

I've had symptoms (sore throat, diarrhea, swollen lymph nodes, sweats, dizziness, nausea, and now a HSV-2 outbreak in genital area...which I've NEVER had before).

I took an RNA b-DNA test at 3 weeks (neg); and have had antibody tests at 3, 4, and 5 weeks (neg). but am waiting for the all telling 3 month mark as Teak has reminded me that it is the only conclusive way to know for sure.

Can anyone tell me if the HSV2 outbreak (that I've never experienced before now) is symptomatic of ARS and if the co-infection would have any result on my antibody tests?

Long story short, he knew.  He was an ex who had given it to ME!  The bigger question here should be drunken or not why would I even CONSIDER being with him again?!  Thus the username of IDIOTA!  I KNOW I KNOW!  Needless to say, haven't had a drop since and don't plan on it anymore. :(

You have HSV2 and you had unprotected sex with this guy.  Are you not concerned that you infected him with HSV2??????  Did you inform him?  You shouldn't be concerned about HIV anymore.  Your tests sound like your good.  But wonder why you didn't post any concern about spreading your HSV2.

Thank you for the information, I sincerely appreciate it.

I did receive my 6 week results of negative which of course don't mean a thing as I continue to get MORE symptoms (small red pimply rash on the back of both of my arms and increased diarrhea and continued sore throat).

BELIEVE ME, I would have had him wear a condom this time if I'd not been almost passed out drunk enough to barely even remember the event.  I'm an idiot!

LESSON LEARNED!  I just hope it isn't too late.

The Drs. in this forum will not respond to my latest paid post because they've both told me that based on my negative RNA at 3 weeks and negative AB at 6 weeks I have NO HIV infection.  I hope and pray daily that turns out to be true as I continue to question and test up to the 3 month mark.

You can not base any thing on Symptoms, you had an unprotected exposure and need A full STD panel
Here is all the testing info you need, testing before the window periods doesn't mean a thing to have conclusive results you need to test at or after the window periods.

It will be hard to wait but next time you'll wear a condom, And your HSV outbreak could have been from stress.

When do symptoms typically appear and how long do they last approximately?

I have also had a red rash on my cheek, next to my mouth.  At first I thought it was just a PMS breakout at (at 4 wks post-exposure) but it bled a bit upon a face scrub and now it's STILL there (6 weeks) and just dry & scaly.  Neg Preg. Test thank Goodness.  I am still having headaches; fever was never over 99.3; sore muscles; dizziness; sore throat; diarrhea, etc.  I went to my GP who said I "probably" have a sinus infection and gave me anti-biotic which doesn't seem to be helping any of my symptoms...which of course makes me worry that it's because my system is under "attack" from HIV?!

I KNOW symptoms aren't SUPPOSED to mean anything but when you have a slew of them over the window period your mind can't help but go there...especially when you've never experienced MOST of them...ever?!

Just a WW looking for any bright spot that isn't really out there for 3 months.  SORRY!

HSV2 has nothing to do with HIV.

I don't know much about your HSV2 but surely it won't affect your antibody test result.

By the way, RNA test seems very cool, they can detect an infection very very early and used only in case of a HIGH RISK exposure. It must be also very expensive.
