HIV nightline accuracy

I got off the phone with the HIV nightline to ask them about testing and exposures. My exposure was unprotected oral sex with no ejaculation. I told them that i started to experience a swollen lymph node and a sore throat and tested negative, they told me to keep testing and that HIV can lay dormant in your body for well over 6 months without it being picked up by various tests. is this true? Even with the 4th generation testing? I asked him where’d he got that info from and he couldnt give a straight answer.

This isn't a forum for debating HIV testing protocols. The volunteers here provide information that is in line with what leading experts in HIV research have provided. You can choose to believe what you want to believe but it's not up for debate here.

Regardless of what they say, as a volunteer and in line with leading experts, was i at risk?
No, you were not at risk. The principal reason why not is because saliva is a hostile environment which effectively renders the HIV virus inactive and unable to infect. This is the same reason why kissing is also not a risk.

Furthermore, HIV does not lie dormant in the body. With the advances made in diagnostic testing over the years, HIV tests are well known to be among one of the most sensitive and accurate tests on the market among available lab tests. Anyone who questions the results of an HIV test taken within the proper window period is clearly very misinformed and uneducated about current testing in hiv.
Thanks! I understand now, i wasnt sure if you were also telling me that experts believed that hiv wouldnt show up on a test after 6 months. I guess the lymph nodes and sore throat was just a coincidence
Someone coughed on your lips or a door knob so you got the sore throat. Lymph swell when you are ill from your throat issue.
Thanks so i dont need another test?
Not sure why you are repeating that question, when you never needed to test. It seems your mind was made up before you came here because you haven't listened to any of the advice.
