Please help!

Last night (12 hours ago) I had unprotected vaginal sex with a woman I met in a bar.

Should I seek PEP?

Hi there.  You are best to call your doctor about this.  While you had an exposure where HIV can be transmitted, please remember that statistically the odds are in your favor.  You may decide to start PEP upon your doctor's recommendation or visit a clinic.  We can not tell you to do so here as often, this is unnecessary.  We understand you are anxious and it is best to work with your doctor on this.  We wish you the best.

Thanks. I am really worried that I'm going to be the unlucky one. I don't really know what to do

Yes this makes sense thanks. Sites like this http://www.aidsmap.com/PEP-guidelines-for-the-UK-revised-to-take-account-of-undetectable-viral-load/page/2186929/ state that vaginal sex single exposure with female not from a high risk group would not qualify for PEP

Sex workers who have protected sex are less risk that some people who don't use protection so I would not try to calculate odds considering this woman possibly never uses protection with strangers. She could be an intentional carrier for all you know.
I know a woman who has pick up sex every time she goes to a bar and never uses protection, so odds can't be calculated when you meet strangers.
You might have an STD so I would get checked for that too.
I would see if you are eligible for PEP and take it if you can, considering HIV is permanent. I didn't read your link and will not be commenting further.

listen , this is almost a no risk for hiv, and you dont know her status so maybe she doesnt have hiv , i dont want you to have anxiety .

28 days after exposure hiv combo test or duo test is 100 percent relaible

but if you take pep that would ease the mind right now ?

if you cant . then just chill take it easy one exposure , almost zero risk also we dont know her status so thats good ! .

but after 28 days have hiv test just one dont go crazy with testing
they are known as ag/ab combo or duo . cheap and accurate
makes sense to you ?

I'm not sure if PEP is available. I'd need to go to hospital and explain my situation to the nurses. From what I've read online I'd most likely be declined PEP as the lady was not a sex worker or high risk category, it was heterosexual sex, it is a single exposure

I would have to travel to a hospital and request PEP. I don't currently have it

I do not actually know the woman's HIV status. She was not a sex worker or someone considered 'high risk'. Not sure if that makes a difference?

well we dont know this but you are right most likely she isnt , im just wondering if u take pep now then if hiv combo tests will have to taken later or not .. can you take pep ?

yes you should i think it is 72 hours time you can take it now !

and have a combo hiv test at 28 days for conclusive result

you can do this , single exposure is only 0.2 percent risk which is close to nothing . sometimes it takes years to have unprotected sex .  but pep is best take it

keep calm !
