You don't need nPEP. If you had an exposure to a KNOWN + person, then it would be warranted.
Strange. I don't know what the pills were called, but could be something else. This was in Africa.
Mine runs 1496 for 30 pills you aren't going to find any ARV for 110 dollars.
The price they mentioned was much lower, about 110 USD.
nPEP is not like an aspirin or tylenol. It's a very potent combination of antiviral medications that come with a whole host of risks, not to mention it is very expensive. It costs about $1000 for a 30 day course.
Plus, nPEP is typically only reserved for people who have had a risk with a known + partner, which is not the case.
If I were you, I would find another doctor.
Ok, the reason I thought so was what the doctor told me. He said only problem could be some pain in the stomach. But reading this makes me doubt the doctor I must say..
Where did you get the impression that PEP had "minor side effects", Bob? That couldn't be farther from the truth! It is a toxic, hardcore medication that could potentially cause liver failure. It is not some candy you can take just for the hell of it. You need to seriously rethink what you are saying Bob because you are so far off the mark that you're already into next week!
But for me it feels like a small problem to eat some medicine, feel some minor side effects, compared to the risk of getting infected
How about complete kidney and liver failure and death. Do you call those minor side effects?
That's what my doctor says to me.. I really want to take PEP but she says theres no need for that since we're both test negative,
You were already advised that 3 months post exposure is when you can obtain your conclusive test result. You had no reason to start another thread.
