Wow. Kkk670 you are amazing. Thanks for the explanation. You are a good man/woman. Have a great life ahead. I will end this thread here.
If you further want proof next time when you go for blood draw notice something ... yes blood is going out of the body
As soon as she insets the needle in you notice that all of a sudden a little or blood goes out of you automatically try it with butterfly needle you will see blood will start to flow automatically . It is called negative pressure blood is flowing outward from you !
No problem at all ! You are 100 percent safe not 99.9 perecent 100 perecent !
Okay I get it you are worried about the butterfly needle it has small tube . She won't be able to use it
Yes it will clot
Yes you are fine
You will be huge trouble if you go around asking people sooner or later someone will scare the crap out of you
The needle will clot
Last but not least you had blood taken from you blood draw ? . If so then nothing will go into you arm blood will come out
Totally relax about this nothing went wrong it's pizza time
I have played this needle game just like you for very long do not worry ! One second , one inch 1 second gap one minute gap whater don't worry at this lab . Blood will flow out of you
Now if you must worry how drug iv users get infected they toss the syringe around to each other . And inject themselves . And also they rinse there needles so that they don't clot .
But you have nothing to worry about . I can feel for you how you went to lab and asked about the needle it is fine
But here is my guarantee I never guarantee but I will do this for you sort of reminded me of myself ;you go for HIV ,hepatitis test whenever you want and take a screen shot of this you will be HIV and hepatitis negative . Okay ? . You can chose to ask any doctor
Some will scare you ! . Some will say high unlikely it's a trap and they will scare you . Okay ? Be confident now . And let me tell you that with full confidence you have zero risk yes the needle will clot ! Also it cannot happen to you
Alll is well including you !
I think I know the answer to this one young champ !
You say nurse took blood from person before you .
She basically used a butterfly needle and then used the barrel the syringe to suck blood out . After that she will install the needle on the barrel and then trasmit the blood all into the the blood sample tube
After that young man here comes your doubt . She has would have cut the needle on the sharp box when cuts the needle young man here is the catch ! . The holder where the barrel is also attached is also damaged or wel cut just a bit so that barrel can't be used again i learnt that when I went into a lab !
Other point is when your turn came in you had injection or blood taken . Blood is always flowing out of you in blood draw nothing goes into you remeber that
And she if she needed to install a new syringe (barrel ) and the needle the full set to inject you with
You are 100000% percent safe !
I have played this needle game quite well just like you . I use to have my blood taken with my eyes shut even .
There is no theoretical risk here for you okay you listen to me on this right now
First order a nice pizza today . Eat think and it's okay everyone is afraid of needles nothing will go wrong . There is no therotical risk here okay ? Relax now
Yeah true. But still if that needle was a used needle and if the previous person had hiv and the nurse was taking out blood from my body CAN I GET HIV ?
Can I get hiv if it was a used needle and if the previous patient had hiv ?
Since you went back to the hospital and talked to the phlebotomist about your concerns, which she took the time to explain to you, those concerns should be alleviated.
If you are STILL worried that new syringes, needles and barrels were NOT used on you......ask for a repeat test and tell them you want EVERY single piece of the equipment opened in front of you. Also make sure she has washed her hands and put on a new pair of gloves before touching anything. Make sure the cotton ball or piece of gauze she places over the puncture site is clean and has not been used before and this applies to the tape or bandage she uses to hold it in place. By closely watching each and every step she takes, I'm sure you will have peace of mind.
As for your question as to how long it takes for blood to coagulate in a syringe, I have no idea and I doubt anyone here would without doing some research. Perhaps YOU could research this subject since it is not germane to the purpose of this forum which is HIV PREVENTION.
okay sorry. you did not get my question. do you know these new blood taking syringes where a needle goes on top of a plastic barrel and then after injecting the needle a tube is attached from the behind and the blood starts filling into that tube automatically. So now I did not see her attach that new needle on the plastic barrel (I know my tube was new in which the blood goes). Also I went to the hospital again and asked her and she said that if it had been an already used needle then the tube would not have filled with blood because there would have been blood clot inside the needle. By the way what is the time for blood clot inside a needle ? There was a 1 minute gap between the last patient and me
So...........she used a syringe (needle and barrel) on the first patient. Then you went in and saw her put the first syringe aside.......you stated she did NOT remove the needle from the barrel, so in other words, she put the entire used syringe aside? Yes?
You then state she opened a new needle in front of you but you looked away and didn't see her put the new needle onto a new syringe. Most likely because what she opened IN FRONT OF YOU was a new needle ALREADY attached to a new barrel.
It is extremely unlikely she made a mistake. Even phlebotomist in Nagpur City, India are professionals.
If you are concerned about whether a used barrel was being used for your blood test, I would recommend that you go back to the clinic and discuss your concerns with them. You could also speak to your health care provider about getting re-tested if you do not feel confident about your test results.
Personally, I feel you are just being paranoid due to anxiety.
