HIV 2

Hello There

Thank you for the opportunity to ask questions.

To my Questions ; The duo they say is conclusive by 6 weeks. Bc of the Antigen HIV1, what about HIV 2 ? As I know there is no Antigen for HIV 2 in the Combo tests, I ask bc I got tested at 8 weeks & 9.5 weeks with Duo Combo neg.

Should I reteest at 12 Weeks for conclusive?

The guy I had the encounter with, travels a lot to west africa.

If you want to use what you read somewhere else in Germany, there is no sense asking me for the test guidelines too. I get the feeling you are doing a lot of googling, which can only make you more anxious comparing all that you read.

No, I just want security. And I saw that here at the forum are a lot of HIV Experts & I wanted to ask different opinions on it.
Sorry for the double Text, since also a lot guidelines advise to reteest, for all strains/ high risk/ Chemo patients.. Or is that not true anymore?
You won't find any other opinions here because hiv prevention is straightforward and everyone here knows the facts. The science is 40 years old and well proven.

4 weeks is conclusive. Whoever told you to wait 6 or 12 weeks is using outdated guidelines, and the more you search, the more anxious you will become since you already located 2 that conflict with each other and the 4. Further testing is a waste of time because the result will be the same.

So the duo will also pick up HIV 2? I ask bc I can not really find a lot information. And in Germany they say; that for HIV 1 ist conclusive 6 weeks duo, but in rare cases it can take up to 12 weeks bc of HIV2 or 0. I just wanna be sure. BC I wanna move into a new relationship.

Thank you
