At the emergency room

May I ask something? Today I got a little surgery at the emergency room with my toe problem.
By the way another man came at the same time he also got a surgery with another doctor.
Surgery items(him and mine) were quite close. The another man bleed really a lot. Im worried cuz there was possible contact of his blood with my surgery items(his bloody gauze).
Is there any possibility like that situation?
Im so worried.

Irrational.  You don't have an HIV concern.  Medical personnel are diligent about infection control procedures.

Excuse me. May I ask one more?
Because I wanna understand one thing.

I searched one answer that : " HIV can be transmitted via blood. However, that blood has to be fresh, and it must have a direct route into a new blood stream"

Does it mean... Even if the another man's bloody gauze contact my pressure bandage (used for my toe), is it not risk? because it was not direct route into a new blood stream?

So sorry ask again.
