Barbor cut me with a straight edge razor any chance of HIV?

I was at the barber shop three weeks ago and got a haircut.  The barber than gave me a shave with a straight edge razor.  He cut me in two spots on my chin (little nicks).  He but some a cream on it and it immediately stopped bleeding.  The razor was used on several other customers before me.  The barber did spray the blade with antiseptic before giving me a shave. Is there a chance that I could have contracted HIV because of this?

HIV is not alive, it is either active or inactive. HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions, therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

Nice.

So how long would HIV live on that razor blade?

That is what I was thinking also. Why are you so sure of your answer?

mooksmom's reply was incorrect. You were never at risk of contracting HIV from your barbershop incident.

thanks for the response.

I thought that HIV does not survive well outside its host?  If HIV was on the blade before giving me a shave it would have dried in the 15 mins that it sat on the blade.  Even is the blood on the blade did not dry I would think that when the barber applied the antiseptic and wiped the blade off it would have eliminated all chances?

Yes.There is a chance. I can't fathom, in this day and time, that a barber is allowed to use the same razor on more than one client!!! I would think that the razor would have to be submersed in some kind of barbacide.
