hiv and hepatitis
dear dr,
recently ive been diagnosed with asymptomatic chronic prostatitis.the urologist refered me to physiotherapy which consist of inserting a kind of dildo in my rectum which radiates heat..as usual i covered it with a condom before inserting.this time unfortunately the condom was completely torn off when i removed it.so there was a direct contact inside my rectal linning..please note that it took place in a medical centre,so there was a lot of people with chronic disease who have used it before me..though the nurse told me its cleaned and disinfected,im not able to believe them,frankly speaking, they appeared very careless..and the most scary pary part is that as soon as i entered in the room on that day for the procedure,it was occupied.there was a man inside and assistant told me to wait for 10 mins.exactly 10 mins later i went in and it was free,,,so how is it possible that within 10 mins they got time to clean and disinfect it...im not buying it....so have i been at risk of contracting hiv or hepatitis???plz help me,,im dying with paranoia,,,cud not sleep well...im having terrible nightmare every night...

Not much we can help you with then for fear, this is a risk assestment forum which we have given you. Seek a therapist for anxiety issues.
thx again lady for ur time to answer me,,,i understand it but the problem is that it was in a medical centre where people with chronic disease was using it,,and also there was a man undergoing the same procedure before me on that day,,,n as soon as he finished,i went in to undergo the procedure,,,,how in that short period of time of about 10 mins,,they cleaned n disinfected it,,,im unable to convince me....and also the assistant appeared very careless,,im unable to trust them...im afraid to go to sleep right now
This is a totally irrational fear. A medical clinic isn't going to use a dirty stimulator. They have policies and regulations they must follow, They are not going to open themselves up to that kind of liability.
thx for ur reply......but still im very scared of hepatitis,,,,i know how badly the virus can damaged the liver.....im not not able to control myself,,,,it just freaked me out
This is an HIV specific forum.
There would be no risk because HIV becomes inactive when exposed to the elements. Even if they did not clean it (which I highly doubt), you still would not be at risk for HIV.
I'm sure they probably have more than one stimulator in the office anyway, they aren't going to have only one. PLUS, you are assuming the man before you had the same treatment. He may have been there for a simple check up!
