Ok so today I walked into my local clinic for my county my initial inquiry was for these bumps that I had on my pubic area which I wanted to make sure was not genital warts (Turns out it wasnt) during this whole ordeal of course they took my blood and did a hiv test which they said they would have the results in 20 minutes...so 20 minutes later the nurse comes in and says she needs to take my blood again because they could not get a accurate reading on the first test this kinda startled me so I gave my blood a second time and proceeded to wait another 20 minutes..
Now the next time she comes in she tells me again they could not get a reading on the test and are sending my blood to a lab ( they did not take blood from me a 3rd time ) she started talking to me about false positives and false negatives, my guess is that its a false positive she was referring to in my case. The part where I messed up big time is I FAILED to mention that for the past 4-5 days I have been experiencing flu like symptoms (Coughing, runny nose, night sweats, feeling tired at random times) i'm pretty sure I caught a bug at my girlfriends house (who is my only sexual partner) So my immune system at the moment is already a bit flawed due to this cold of flu or whatever it is I have which I know will effect my white blood cell count.
So my question to the community, could this be why the test couldn't get a accurate reading on weather I had HIV or not? Correct me if i'm wrong but IF I did in fact have hiv wouldn't the test just come out positive? Will the lab they send it too be able to tell the difference? I dont want them calling me saying I have HIV or something because I was sick at the time I took the test. If anyone could shine some light on my case id greatly appreciate it thank you very much :)
