Burst condom

Hi all, last Friday I had protected vaginal sex with a sex worker in Hong Kong (never done this before.. no excuse but was very drunk!). To my shock and horror after I had ejaculated and removed my penis the end of the condom was missing!! Given the rest of condom was still intact and along the length of my penis, and after some research, I believe this was due to me not correctly putting it on, leaving some air in the end, and therefore causing to burst at the point of ejaculation.

Following some further research I now understand that my chances of contracting HIV are relatively low (1-1000) if she was HIV positive, and of course she may not be although in the high risk category!

May question is does the length of time that your exposed penis is in the females vagina directly effect the risk of HIV transmission. i.e. if the above is true in terms of the condom bursting my penis was only exposed for seconds rather than minutes. Does this also reduce my risk to HIV and other STDs?

I am going for a 10 day test (HIV1/2 & Hep B,C) next Monday, followed by Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea post 14 days, & then full screening including HIV Duo post 4 weeks.

PCR-DNA tests are not approved diagnostic tests. They are monitoring tests for people that are known to be HIV positive to monitor their progression.

Thanks for the feedback. I understood the PCR test (DNA), although not 100%, was still reasonably accurate. Is there a high rate of false positives with this type of test?

Length of time would reduse the risk because the longer you are exposed to something the greater chance you have of getting it. But it can take 1 time for 1 minute.

HIV test at 10 days is a waste of money time and resources because it will not tell you anything from this exposure. All it can do is give you a false positive. Test at 6-8 weeks if you must and then 3 months for a conclusive result.
