Possible ARS - Very very scared

Hi Doc

I have had a sexual expierence with a sex worker on the 23/11/11. I performed oral sex and i have bleeding gums. 2 weeks later i had a terrible head ache which lasted a week and is persistant until today.Could not eat for about a week. Lost some weight. Was feeling tired for a week and had chest pains but now much better. Had a repit test 2 weeks which was negative.Developed a rase (itchy) around late December on the inner thigh area and is slightly fading now. Recent sore throat but not hsectic however feels like i cannot sollow sometimes. My neck hurts but i am not sure if it was lymph nodes which only lasted about 2 days without swelling. I had another rapid test 25 days later which showed negative but i still feel very terrible and scared. Whats worst is that my wive have had diarrhea a few times now, slight headaches and lower back pain for about 3 days. She also complaining of being very tired recently. I am so scared that i feel i have every symtom within the ARS timeframes. Not sure what to do, going insane. Please share some advise

You had no risk from oral sex. Symptoms are unrelated to HIV.

ars symptoms come at 2-4 weeks post infection and last for 1-2 weeks.  they come at once...not one after another.

the symptoms you are describing are not even symptoms associated with ars.

you had NO risk.  if you are having health concerns, see your dr...its NOT hiv related.

Sorry to sound stupid. Possibly i did not word my timeframes correctly. My head achce ,fatige and loss of appetite stated 2 weeks after exposure. During week 3 ,4 and  5 was rash ,muscle pains and painful neck around the lymp nodes. How is it that the internet is telling me that all my symptoms are pointing to be a possible HIV case? This is what is making me go crazy, however thanks for the feedback. I should have been more careful and not risk my family and life. I hope to God that i test negative after 3 months as i mentioned it is only 45 days now

See a doctor to get your anxiety treated and under control. Sitting on the internet reading about symptoms and posting in forums is only going to make your situation worse- trust me on that. Your issue is anxiety not HIV.

Hi Sir

Thanks for your feedback. Yes i have to admit that i possibly am having anxiety related symptoms however i think i am more scared because i performed oral sex on a SW not knowing if she had her menstrual cycle or not and whats worst is that i have bleeding gums. Sadly to say exactly two weeks later i got this terrible headache which still persists until now, was feeling weak and neck was sore and was really fatigued and had chest pains. I could not eat for 2 weeks and lost weight. In week 3 i developed a redish rash on my inner thigh which was slightly raised but a little ittchy. I see that now in week six it is fading and skin becoming dried around it. Week 5 i had a itchy troat and it was like that for about 3 days and also developed a white coat on the side of my toungue and top.

Now the thing that really gets me scared is that my wive had loose stools in 2 different weeks, a slight sore troat once, really fatigued for 2 weeks and still persists, slight head aches and the other morning she woke up and told me her arm was numb and she had no feeling , hot flushes and a dry cough at odd occassions. Strangly the same happened to me and my vision seems blurred.

I had went for a rapid test 25 days later which checks for antibodies and it was negative however the symptoms still persist and i know that it is somewhat accurate at 3 months. People say that i have had no risk but how is that possible?

Now i am sure you understand why i am the way i am. I am sorry but maybe people are thinking that i am crazy or something but i am really really going through a bad time

Blurred vision is a symptom of HIV?

You got some symptoms at once, then you got other symptoms weeks later, that means they're unrelated. You could just have the flu, which has all the same symptoms of HIV, obnoxiously enough.

You cannot have HIV from the exposure you are concerned about.

Your symptoms sound nothing like ARS.  ARS rash does not itch, lymph nodes are not painful, blurred vision is nothing to do with HIV etc....

Symptoms all come at once and all go at once, they are not sequential.

You do not have HIV.

Hi guys, just a quick update, neck still hurts and throat feels sort. Wive complained yesterday about her lower back pain again as well as fatigue and sore troath.

I read on CDC that we can get HIV through oral sex. What scares me is that i have bleeding gums and performed oral sex on that female sex worker not knowing her status. This symptoms my wive has is also driving me insane.

The CDC is ultra conservative and not up with the times, your wifes symptoms are not related to Hiv because she doesn't have the virus and neither do you.The doctors in our expert forum have their own opinions about oral sex and it's zero risk factor and they also have their opinions about window periods for certain Hiv tests which is different to the CDC.

Rainlover i can't get over the fact that i might have been infected and may have infected her (Tears)......We have 2 small kids and i was so stupid.
I feel so miserable that my body feels like it is shutting down, just the thought that i went down on that sex worker. How foolish i was and now all these symptoms in six weeks. How strange

It might be the guilt, but it certainly is not Hiv that is the issue here. You never had a risk, you haven't infected your wife and if you can't accept this fact then you need therapy.I have nothing further to add to this discussion. My best advice to you is to get off the computer and spend time with your family. All the best.

Hi guys, you know somethings are very confuding especially when you read stories from people that recently have aquired HIV - Have been reading on POZ. There are loads of people that have tested at 4 weeks and it was negative however ended up positive. They have all the symptoms that i have and yes they do last sometimes longer than 6 weeks. Some even confirmed that they have had it come in sequences in a sense of different symptoms in different weeks. Some even claim and are really ceratin that they have contracted this via oral sex. I cannot help but look into all of these things and no disrespect to anyone that have responded however my wive and my symptoms are just too scary to be true as well as identical to those that i have read now.

ppl lie about their exposures for many different reasons, ie. to protect themselves from embarrassment, protect their families, save their marriage, etc.

Bottom line here is that you never had a risk.If you can't accept this fact then I suggest you seek anxiety therapy.

Trust me i have no reason to lie Lizzie abouyt my exposure. My biggest concern is what those people mentioned about their symptons and durations of the symptoms.

Sorry Rainlover, you've been great however forgive me however my anxiety will not cause symptoms on my wive brother, hence the questions and anxiety from me
