HIV Subtype C Possible Exposure

Hello

I had sex with a CSW in India and she gave me unprotected oral and we did intercourse with condom. But the condom broke in between and I was there for 5 to 10 seconds. After realizing I pulled out and put another to complete it.

As everybody in the forum says vaginal sex is low risk, but this is true with subtype B which is found in America. I heard subtype C strain is more easily transmissible through vaginal sex and I am worried about it.

It has been 11 days and I want to test at 4 Weeks first. I feel my tonsils are enlarged and have a strange feeling and some pain on the necks which I keep assuming for swollen lymph nodes.

How do you tell if you have swollen lymph nodes? What is the possibility of getting infected with this subtype and does the window period vary for this particular subtype.

There are no tests marketed or sold to give a conclusive negative test earlier that 3 months post exposure.

Thank You Teak.

So if I take a DUO test would it be in that direction. Also what is a DUO test?

Does DUO test cover all subtypes?

Does ARS Symptoms show a week after exposure?

No a 4 week rapid test would not be accurate. Dizziness is not an ARS symptom.

Thank you.

I am planning to take rapid test at 4 weeks would this be accurate? Does it cover subtype C?

Also for the last 5 days I am feeling dizzy. Is dizziness a part of ARS Symtoms?

a risk is a risk and the testing guideline is the same for all types.

the odds are definitely with you.  most ppl don't have hiv and your time of "exposure" was minimal.

4 week duo or an antibody test at 6-8 weeks will give you a very good indication of your status.  follow up at 3 months for a conclusive result.
