I was diagnosed with Prostatitis about a week after I had 4-5 times of unprotected vaginal sex. I was put on Cipro for 30 days. About two weeks later I started having some flu-like symptoms. I had a CBC done about a month after my last potential exposure and everything was within normal range (WBC 5700).
Two questions:
1) Everyone says your WBC/CBC does not reflect HIV status at all. How could that be true? If your body is fighting a viral infection wouldn't the WBC be elevated? I the WBC is elevated when your body is fighting other infections (Bacterial and Viral). Someone please enlighten me on this. Plus my Doc said if I had already started fighting the infection he would have seen "new" or "juvinile" WBC's in response to the fight against the virus. Anyone ever heard of this. Can your blood work show when new WBC' are created?
2) I tested negative to HIV 68 days (2 days shy of 10 weeks) after my last sexual encounter. Could prostatitis or any other STD affect my window period? It's been 13 weeks now and I'm having ARS type symptoms (swollen nodes, rashes, headaches, etc.). I guess I was thinking my windows period could be delayed since my body was fighting off the prostititus or some other STD.
Thank you for your time and response to my question...
