Hiv from giving oral sex?

I gave a man whom i have been seeing for over 6 months oral sex-- we discussed at length std's and everything-- he said he was negative. However i gave him head on last week tuesday and then this monday of this week i developed a sore throat with white tonsils..... I got a swab done-- the doc said he thought it looked like strep-- and i asked about oral sti's and he said he would test for those too but that in his experience those type of infections looks much much worse than what i have--- that being said i made a passing comment about how oral sex is suppose to be the safer method of sex and he said oh no you can get everything you can get through penetrative sex by doing oral sex-- that freaked me out... Now i was prescribed ten days of three times a day amox-- my throat is less tight but still has white patches is the white throat a common symotom or ars or is it just a sore throat i dont have a fever or anything like that-- and i know symptoms are not indicative of infection.... But the dr is wrong about hiv and oral sex--- that is presuming that the guy i with lied and did in fact have hiv--- right? I am trying to be rational i have  anxiery and i am trying to think theough it -- nurse girl can you help a sista out?

If ARS occurs it's 2-4 weeks after exposure. But no, I did not take offense. I think you're right about that.

No no i know dont take offense none was meant by asking-- i just know that a lot of "responders" were once people who asked questions. And to me this is a psychological way of them coping-- maybe i am wrong but that is my education experience in psych talking. I just got a call back from the doc not an oral STD... Its viral--- which has me myself psyched out...... Even if i had sex two months ago this is too long after to be ars---ars fakes place two weeks after exposure correct?

Being a 24 year old male has nothing to do with knowledge on transmission. I'm sure there are 16 year old females that have knowledge too.

Your doctor is sorely mistaken. If oral sex was a legitimate risk, think of how much of the world's population would have HIV.
