Does Saliva really protects us from HIV ?

Hello All,

Very recently through the forums here I learnt that Saliva inactivates or kills HIV. It was regarding to my question where I gave deep cunnilingus to 2 CSWs with a day old small cut on my tongue (no bleeding during act).
Every one said NO RISK and it helped me a lot to cool down on my stress. I also learnt that Saliva has some enzymes and proteins and other good stuff that can kill HIV or render it use less...!
But there is another contradicting piece of information that is confusing me. Scientific analysis shows that Saliva is among those body fluids that has HIV if the person is infected.
Now if Saliva can kill HIV - how does HIV infected person have HIV is saliva. Does it mean his saliva changes and all the good stuff is gone from the saliva once infected.. ?

I wanted to know this because of concerns of my unfortunate act of cunnilingus with a wounded tongue. I wish that episode never happened. I hope you all are correct and I remain NEGATIVE.

I really wish my saliva was strong enough to get rid of the HIV if those girls were infected.
Please let me know..

Thank you All..!

Regards.

You had no HIV risk. The virus is weak and saliva kills it. Thats the reason why kissing is a zero risk. And also remember the toung heals very fast. So no risk.

Do not pull up old threads and post to them if you have a question start your own thread and the information you gave is totally incorrect.

If you have an open cut in your mouth then HIV can be passed on, but it is a  very very small chance that it would be passed on as it take 3 steps for HIV to enter the body and get a foot hold of you. Quantity of the HIV quality (how pure it is( HIV do,s not all ways copy,s it self good that,s why it,s a long term illness now, but it has it,s other down side as it mutants all to easily) and route (ie) like i said at the top a cut in mouth .

Saliva is not infectious. Saliva contains over a dozen different enzymes and proteins that inhibits HIV transmission.

Teak,

Thanks for responding.

But some part of my question still is unanswered and I am curious to know the answer.
Every one widely believes that Saliva acts as a barrier and has the potential to disable/kill HIV - but people say HIV is found in saliva.
How is this possible ?
If saliva is a bad environment for HIV then how does live in Saliva ? and if so - is it just that the HIV is present in saliva but is of no use or potentially a dummy floating around..?

Please let me know.

Thank you all for support and assurance.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TEAK

You never had an exposure. Oral sex does not transmit HIV.
