thanks iommi, ive been reading that the 4th gen is conclusive at 28 days and fenway health and the aids action committee are saying 15 days...i am booked in for thursday next week for a rapid test and will know within 20 mins off taking it, keep your fingers crossed for me iommi and i will fill u in around lunch time, thanks again
From what I've read your symptoms and time line are not pointing to hiv.
Being you are experiencing symptoms after this encounter and your unsure if it was protected you are doing right to test.
It is not out of the question you did pick up something else from this. STD or STI so follow through with proper tests and times for that and perhaps inquire in the std forum.
I'm not a Dr to go against CDC guidelines for a final test at 12 wks but know this,
The "WHO" consider a 4th gen test conclusive at 6 wks.
So according to their 6 week window period using a 4th gen test it's up to you to test now or wait.
What will bring you complete peace of mind?
I awesome these are lab tests.
Hi iommi thanks for the reply, much appreciated, i wouldnt normaly worry but for my partner having the same symptoms, maybe a little worse than me, at the minute im sleepy, and urinating a lot, could be nerves, thanks
The 15 day test was too early. "if" you were infected there's a chance the test would have detected p24 antigen but not antibodies being they don't start to become delectable till around 3 wks.
There are no exclusive hiv symptoms so they are not reliable for diagnosis.
Hiv symptoms generally start 2-4 wks after infection and they commonly come and go nearly the same time.
