Niddle @ rented home and HIV

Hi Doctors,

I work in Mumbai,India. I took rented flat here in Mumbai 1 and 1/2 month. While cleaning garbage, I got discarded niddle and syringe. I got pricked with. And I m sure this niddle syringe is more than one month old as I stay here and no one with me. Also it didn't visible bleed.

What could be my risk?
Do I need go for testing?
Can I have unprotected sex with my wife?

It can't live for a month in a syringe. Even if it could live for a month in an enclosed air free environment - which it can't- your syringe was not enclosed because air goes down the hollow part which pricked you, so there was no cover on it.
Reread all the advice then move on. THat includes discarding ideas about taking PEP.
Plus you weren't injected or you would have screamed in pain after a fast injection - you just got a prick from the part that was definitely exposed to the air.

It was syringe attached and no visible blood in it. Should I go for testing or consider PEP?  Also how air deactivate it if in syringe?

Only non sex risk is quickly sharing hollow needles that you use to inject with. hiv is instantly killed in the presence of air, so any hiv in that needle was long dead therefore getting pricked can't infect you. Move on from this non event and live your normal life.
