HIV Test advice

Hey Dr / Guys,

Good to meet you all, been reading a few posts and thought I'd put my situation here to get some guidance.

Ive had 2 risky exposures of vaginal sex with no protection,  one 3 weeks ago drunken with a working girl and one 3 weeks ago with a casual girl I know.

I'm a fit and healthy but for the last week been having some unusual symptoms I can't pinpoint.
a) Strange light pain / unconformable feeling  in my fingers and feet
b) occasional headaches
c) just a general feeling of not feeling normal

I don't have any rash / night sweats or any other symptoms I read about hiv etc.. and i'm not suffering anxiety.

So due to the time frames I visited a clinic and I have taken 2 tests (PCR and 1&2 p24)

1&2 p24 - Result came back as 'Nothing abnormal detected'
PCR - I'll get the results early next week.

I live in a country where HIV+ causes immediate deportation and life ban, so I have had to go to a private confidential clinic.

Obviously I plan to follow up at 28 days and 3 months if PCR is negative.

Do you think the tests I have taken are appropriate and right course of action for my situation and are the time lines enough to give a clear result?

If PCR is negative and with your suggestion to my question, I think I would need to visit my medical center and check for other viral infection that may be causing the symptoms above. Do you think this is my correct course of action?

Thanks

RNA PCR test just came back as normal.

Just follow up at 3 months for sure, but i'm going to have to visit my medical center to see if its something else causing my symptoms.

Thanks for advice

Your test will be conclusive 3 months post exposure.

Thanks for your advice, lesson learned.

Country is within the GCC and the 'working girl' from Kazakhstan.

Agree symptoms are not suggestive but for me unusual. The medical advice available in country is almost zero and the www is diluted with some good and some bad information.

1&2 +p24 after 21days is encouraging for first risk, but obviously need to wait for PCR. Then I can consider my other options.

Your symptoms are not suggestive of ARS.

Unprotected vaginal sex is a risk, more so with "working girls" in Third World countries and with street hookers in the West and the former USSR / Eastern bloc, many of whom are IV drug users.

You don't say what country you're in or give details of your "working girl" but you were certainly right to test.

However, your first negative result is an encouraging sign and I would say that the odds for your follow-ups are still very much in your favour. Just make sure that you're more careful next time and look upon this as a lesson learned.
