HIV expossure

Hello,

I was exposed to HIV ON January 1st 2011 by my partner who was HIV positive. We did have safe sex put I performed oral on him briefly and we made out heavily. That being said I was told on January 17th that he was HIV positive. I waited till jan 20th to go get tested. I had two tests performed and I tested negative for both. I know I tested early but wanted to get a baseline. I am still worried about being infected and plan on retesting at the 8 week mark and a couple times after. On the 3rd of February I started to develop the chills and aches which then led into a fever which never got above 100 degrees with night sweat and chills and lasted for 3 days.  On feb 4th and 5th I developed a sore throat and congestion/drainage which then led to my lymph nodes in my neck to swell in addition to the other symptoms.   On feb 6th I went In to the doctor and he took a look at me and said that it looked like a sinus infection/ bacterial infection because of the color of the phlegm in my throat and by how swollen my tonsils were and the white pus on my tonsils. He said we could run tests and see if it was the flu but we were already past the 48hour mark for flu medicine so he would put me on antibiotics to see if it would clear up. Well the good news is that the sore throat started to get better the fever went away along with the night sweats chills and the swelling on my lymph nodes has also gone down. My question is if this sounds like the flu symptoms that might be associated with early HIV infection or if this truly sounds like the flu or cold/tonsillitis with the progression of symptoms. What should I do medically next?

The OP didn't have a risk and doesn't need testing.

nothing at all. if you continue having those symptoms and flu go visit your doctor. but i suggest getting tested at 3 months for a conclusive result and for your peace of mind.

You never had a risk of contracting HIV. Use condoms correctly and consistently for anal sex and don't share works.
