unprotected help!

Hello everyone. I made a stupid decision and had a guy of unknown status perform unprotected cunnilingus on me. Can I get HIV this way? Is testing necessary? Please help! I'm scared to death!

There is no debate (among experts) about the HIV risks associated with oral sex.  The risk is so low that almost nobody who cares for HIV infected patients has ever had a patient believed to have been infected that way.  Among experts, it's a semantic issue about using terms like "no risk" and "very low risk".  There is no difference between my or Dr. Hook's use of "low risk" and other experts' "no risk".
DR. HANSFIELD

"And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex.  Please educate yourself about the real risks.  If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs. "   DR HANSFIELD

"I am sure you can find lots of people who belive that HIV is transmitted by oral sex, but you will not find scientific data to support this unrealistic concern..."   DR HOOK

"HIV is not spread by touching, masturbation, oral sex or condom protected sex."- DR. HOOK

in the public HIV Prevention forum of MedHelp, TEAK and the other moderators maintain that oral sex in all forms is a zero risk activity. Would you agree with this assessment?
I TOTALLY AGREE / DR GARCIA

The observation on thousand and thousand of observations is that HIV is not spread by oral sex (of any sort).  DR. HOOK

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ! ! !

They said this:

Unprotected oral sex is considered unsafe.  There are tree sexual activities that are considered unsafe:

·         unprotected vaginal sex

·         unprotected anal sex

·         unprotected oral sex

It is possible for a partner to become infected with HIV through receiving oral.  Evidence suggests that the risk is less than that of unprotected anal or vaginal sex

So they're wrong, oral sex is safe? what do the doctors on this forum say?

Thanks. So basically, kissing open mouth is the same as receiving unprotected oral sex in terms of HIV risk, right?

The ways HIV is transmitted sexualy is by unprotected vaginal and anal sex only.

Kissing, Oral, Masturbating, touching, rubbing are all safe sex practices.

Hope this helps!

Oral sex deals with saliva, Here is some information about saliva

The short answer is that saliva virtually never carries any infectious HIV at all.

It does carry detectable "components" of HIV (such as viral RNA and proviral DNA), but these are not infectious on their own. The environment that saliva provides is far too harsh for infectious particles to remain intact and viable.

There are a number of possible mechanisms that have been suggested, which might explain why saliva seems to be so good at destroying HIV. Specific enzymes present in saliva may be important, or the effect of antibodies in saliva. Additionally, the saliva is "hypotonic" and has a tendency to disrupt any cells which may be floating around in it. It's pretty much certain that it's the combination of these factors that mean HIV is not transmitted in saliva.

It may seem strange that such a dangerous virus can't survive in something as "harmless" as saliva. In fact, saliva is a part of the body's natural defences against infection. Additionally, remember that the HIV virus is actually quite fragile.

Saliva inhibits HIV if it is in your mouth fro giving oral sex, this makes it inactive and unable to infect. = no risk

How are unprotected oral sex and unprotected sex different?

Yes, but unprotected sex and unprotected "Oral" sex are different. Unprotected oral sex does not transmit HIV as to unprotected vaginal or anal sex will transmit the virus.

How is HIV spread? Sexualy it is spread via unprotected vaginal and anal sex with an infected partner or buy using IV drugs (Sharing needles)
