Your opinion is needed....

Does this sound like ARS (or early infection) and does the timing make sense?

7/2 - Possible Exposure
7/12 - Swollen Glands (Neck)
7/20 - Sore Throat, Cough and Stuffy Nose
7/22 - Mouth Ulcer (Inside Lip)
8/8- Oral Thrush (Diagnosed)

I've tried to convince myself that the timing of the above symptoms doesn’t make sense to really point to HIV. However, as you can see they are concerning. I tried to make sense of each symptom by ascribing it to certain things. For example, the Swollen Glands and Oral Thrush may have occurred because of 2 Month Antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease. The Sore Throat, Cough, etc. could have occurred because of my Air Conditioner. I woke up that morning with those symptoms. And the Ulcer, not sure. But at a Doctor’s appointment on 7/8 I complained that I’ve been experiencing mouth sores which makes me think that this is something that started before my exposure. The more concerning part is that I continued to have the Ulcers for maybe 2-3 months. Very small ulcers that would go away in 2-3 days.

Well, that was my early stuff. Currently, I’ve been experiencing other symptoms such as Stomach issues, Headaches, Warm feeling throughout my body, and what I believe are swollen glands. Not to mention that my oral thrush took sometime to subside (4-5 months).

What do you think folks?

What you guys are reading is probably more along the lines of when someone contracts HIV it may take YEARS to develop aids. Not YEARS to be detectable.

Shingles has nothing to do with HIV  it has to do with chickenpox.

That's were you lack knowledge. I have been positive for 28 years and  teach HIV education at 3 universities and local high schools and clubs HIV does not lie dormant it lays inaccessable in some areas of the body but never dormant. Now your education HIV is WHAT?

I have a lot of respect for you but your knowledge seems to be limited to Medhelp. HIV does lay dormant which is why we cannot eradicate the disease once it's in the body. It hides in the cells of the body to evade the immune system. Sometimes, in rare infections, HIV will immediately hide in the cells not triggering the immune system and thus not creating antibodies. It is then activated by another illness, e.g. Shingles, etc.  months to even years later.  This is real.  Do the research. Look beyond Medhelp and you'll find a lot about this virus.

Hiv does not remain dormant,if you have contracted it then it will show up on a test before 3 months.Accept the facts and move on with your life.

We take what we do very seriously, and unfortunately you are misinformed about what you are saying.  Search the expert forum and see what they have to say about "delayed seroconversion".  They are doctors who have spent decades treating HIV/AIDS patients.  I tend to believe them.  I have been a nurse for 18 years and have worked quite a bit with HIV patients and ID doctors.  NEVER have I seen or heard of a case of delayed seroconversion.

Nothing about your case seems "alarming" because we know how HIV is transmitted, we understand the mechanism behind infection, and NOTHING you did was a risk in the first place.  You have overinflated views about HIV, and that is probably from the "research" you've done.  If you don't use reputable sources, then you will never understand the disease.  If your primary source for your research is the internet, then the info you're getting could easily be incorrect.  There are a few reputable sites and a lot more that are not.

You cannot discredit all of the tests you've had.  If you had HIV, at least ONE of them would have been positive by now.  Your problem, like 99% of the people who post here, in anxiety, not HIV.

There is nothing more we can say, if you want to continue believing that some day you will turn positive based on this encounter, then feel free.  Seems like an awful lot of wasted time and energy.  Science isn't perfect but you have to get to a point where you have faith in it to an extent.  I think 8 tests is reason enough to believe.  But that's just me.

I respect what you folks do on here. It is a good deed what you are doing and you should be proud of it. However, I hope you are always learning about HIV. The science surrounding it is changing everyday. Also, please do not get 'complacent' with your risk assessment and overall opinions on this thread. With all the nonsense that is posted to this site there are some incidents and symptoms that should be taken seriously. At a glance my case may seem alarming, but when you add all the testing I’ve done everyone dismisses it. But should it? Remember there is an ugly beast called 'delayed seroconversion' that many say is mythical, but in fact is very real. I've done research on it and it is a characteristic of HIV. The virus can remain dormant evading the Immune System. Scary, but true.

Not to mentionm, you tested WAY past the window period.  Test results don't lie...it proves you don't have HIV.

Especially my symptoms which are very suspicious and indicative of HIV. .

Actually they're not...at all.

We cannot give a proper risk assessment without knowing the exposure.  You had no risk for HIV, regardless of what you have convinced yourself of.  Nothing you did placed you at risk for HIV.

The point is, YOU DID NOT HAVE A POSSIBLE EXPOSURE.

Based on what? Would you have made the same comment (HIV not a concern) if I only divulged my exposure and symptoms and NOT my testing? I mean isnt my possible exposure and symptoms concerning? Especially my symptoms which are very suspicious and indicative of HIV.

Why does my exposure matter? I'm asking about symptoms. Anyway, my possible exposure occured on 7/2/2011. I met a Transexual escort and I attempted to 'enter' her twice but could not. I wore a condom. She also gave me oral and my hands and face may have came in contact with her butt area. I dont recall the condom breaking, in fact, I 'jerked off' and ejaculated in the condom. I saw the sperm. Since then I've tested 8 times with the most recent test on 2/18/2012. All negative.

If I didnt have symptoms I would accept my 8-Month test, however, i'm experiecning Stomach problems, Headaches, Warm feeling throughout my body, and what I believe are swollen glands. Very odd and suspicious symptoms.
