In a long-term lesbian relationship...

Hello everyone,

I'm new to these boards and would like to introduce myself:

My name is Cassandra. I am 21 years old and live in Virginia (United States). Just to note, I am a lesbian and have never had any heterosexual sexual contact of any sort; Further, I never have and never will be involved in any intravenous drug use--I do NOT do drugs. On a lighter note, I look forward to contributing to these forums and getting to know each and every one of you!

Now, for my question:

I have been in a long-term committed relationship (with a woman) for three years. Unfortunately, my girlfriend was kidnapped and raped last year. Long story short, she is luckily OK and absolutely STD-free. I am curious, though, about a hypothetical situation. Let's say she had been diagnosed with HIV and we both stupidly, but mutually, agreed to spend the rest of our relationship having unprotected sex; Would it be possible for me to contract the virus? Or is lesbian-to-lesbian transmission incidence really that low?

Thanks,

Cassandra

Lesbians are never at risk if they are not bisexual and don't share works with other IV drug abusers. Since you have stated you don't do drugs and you aren't bisexual you won't have a risk of contracting HIV. Enjoy yourself.

The risk always exists. is it a small risk? yes. There are not many if at all cases of female to female transmission of HIV.
