Hi guys, I'm new here to Medhelp and I just had a few questions I was hoping to gain a better insight to. I apologize if they seem redundant, as I'm sure you get asked these quite a bit and I greatly appreciate your time and knowledge. My first question is; can saliva of a non-infected person dilute or "kill" the hiv virus if some were to get into your mouth? The reason I ask is because I was working with an HIV + individual and when he was talking, he spit, and some landed in my own mouth. I have read on different websites that this isnt' a risk at all, but then on others I see that there is some risk associated with it...I just want to know if my own saliva, mixed with food (as we were eating lunch and I was chewing) could kill any hiv particles, assuming that there were some.
I guess I only have one question at this time. I would be grateful for any feedback! thank you so much :)
