HIV symptoms immediatly after infection?

This question maybe labelled as redundant and too silly to be considered for a response, but i'll ask anyway because I am very worried. I had unprotected oral sex 4 days ago (with no semen etc). Immediately the next morning my lymph nodes under my neck started to swell. This I expected because even if I kiss someone my lymph nodes tend to swell within a day and disappear after a day. However I also developed a very mild cold (just a slight headache and sore throat) thats been persistent till now. I want to dismiss these symptoms because I read its to early to get any kind of symptoms for HIV infection, plus the activity I indulged in is apparently low risk. Plus I am not sexually active (this was my first encounter after 3 years of being celibate).

However could this be legitimately be signs of something serious (HIV, Hepatitis etc), or did I just pick up a harmless bug from my partner. A 3 weeks to 3 months wait before i can have a HIV test is a long time to stress over something i neednt stress about..... Please help.

Thnx

Quote Yaya24: I was replying to crashergs questions.

Anyway, if you had read any of my answers you'd seen that I have infact 'moved on'. I commend you guys on the excellent work you are doing here...and for putting my mind at ease, but if replying to other peoples comments then exposes you to the risk of a rude responce, then there's no need for me to hang around.  Anyway thnx again. No need for warnings and bans... khalas, i'm done.

Thnx

I have no idea. Only the ones under my chin/neck were aching  and I never developed a fever..just a very mild sore throat (that I could be imagining) and a light headache. I am going on the assumption that all this happened because I caught a mild bug from an oral activity. Like I said, the lymph swelling thing strangely nearly always happens to me just from kissing. I guess with a HIV infection thats well advanced, the whole body may react...but I am not a doctor.

Anyway I am putting this all behind me until my next scheduled annual health check up in a couple months....

Actually right now I am building a bomb shelter in my backyard... in between typing posts on medhelp.org ;-p

But seriously I know within my heart of hearts i dont hav HIV and its just my OCD playing up. Just needed reassurance from you professionals. Anyhoo I am not sure if PCR test is available here in Dubai, but if it is and i get another panic attack I'll try to get tested.

Thnx all.

There is also a theoretical risk that a meteorite might hit you, but I bet you’re not racing to a bomb shelter, right? You have no need to worry, move on and enjoy life.

Thnx Vance.

I know what i'd done was virtually risk free... but it still carried a theoretical risk. Is it really safe to say the kind of oral sex i described as safe? Anyway will get myself checked for other stds, if its  not to early.

Oral sex is not a risk w/HIV. See your Dr for your symptoms if you are worried.
