Hello Dr.

I'm a 29 year old male from Nigeria and i'm afraid i may be at risk from HIV after an encounter i had with a sex worker in Lagos Nigeria 2 and half years ago. I would start by saying that most of the sexual intercourse was vaginal, and i used a condom untill i realised that when she was on top of me for (approx.1-2 mins) that the condom had broken, i stood up immediately and changed the condom and continued. There was no spillage as i could recall, and that was just that 1 incident.

But my utmost fear arose when i realised that after a few weeks or maybe months i experienced severe sore throat, diarrhea, dry cough and pain in my chest when i coughed, rashes on my tongue and stomach area all this happened all at the same time.

To be sincere with you, i have never had an HIV test after this incident apparently becuase of the fear of getting the bad news. Please all i ask for is to have an idea of the chances of contracting HIV after this one incident.
