Best test for HIV (after 2 weeks)

I posted last week.

I gave a guy I was seeing fellatio (no blood, no ejaculation), and am still concerned about the whole low risk, theoretical risk, negligible semantics debate.

I decided I’ll just test just shut my mind off and get some peace of mind.

I really like the clinician at Planned Parenthood near me but they only do an oral swab. She said I can comr back at the 2 week mark. I fear the swabs are notorious for giving a false positive, no? It’s too early for the 4th generation test (and I’d have to go elsewhere for that). Suggestions on which test to take at the 2 week mark? And if the oral swab is ok?

As our members have stated very clearly, oral sex is not a risk for HIV.  There is  nothing to add to no risk, your unneeded test will most certainly be negative and we are closing this discussion.  We wish you the best.

I got tested today. Anxiety doesn’t listen to logic.

I did a full panel. The next couple of days are going to be long.

Anxious no more, I know what you’re going to say. I just need words of reassurance right now.

You were told you are negative but you ignore that, so not sure what assurance you think someone on a forum can give to solve your mental issue. Seek therapy because it is unscientific to test for a disease you can't have.
I never tested over this. Who said I was negative?
Instead of constantly asking the same question, reread all the advice on this thread and your other thread and you will see the answer a few times.

I  completely understand the fear.  Test for peace of mind and to scare you into not taking the risk again.  Use condoms for oral sex as well.  There are other STDs to be concerned about in regard to oral.

Testing because you don't believe the science that you had no risk, means you only trust your own made up science. You likely won't believe the scientific test results either. Seek therapy because your problem is fear not disease.

Oral sex has not been a proven route for HIV infection. In over four decades of HIV research, leading experts in the field agree that the only risks for HIV infection include unprotected anal or vaginal sex, sharing drug needles with infected users and from mother to child. Oral sex is not a route of infection due to saliva, which is a hostile environment for the virus which renders it inactive and unable to infect. You had no HIV risk and don't need to get tested.

If you insist that you must have a test for "piece of mind", the earliest possible testing window period is using a 4th generation duo test, which is considered by many experts to be conclusive at 28 days. DNA-PCR and RNA-PCR tests are not recommended by any HIV experts who know what they're talking about because of the high rate of false positives and other technical issues with that test. That is why they recommend the 28 day post exposure 4th generation duo test as the earliest possible time to get a test that can be considered conclusive.

A third generation test will give you a good indication of your status at 6-8 weeks but a final confirmation test is recommended at 12 weeks to be conclusive.

I understand you are worried about a theoretical risk at best(So do I )
Currently, I think the HIV RNA test is the most reliable test at 2 weeks mark.  And you probably still need to take a 4th gen ab/ag test to confirm your negative result.
Oral swab is an antibody test and it can't find antibody/antigen prior to 4th generation test.
My suggestion is to wait until a month to take a 4th gen test.

You haven't listened to any of the advice so far, so i am not sure why you will accept testing advice. Likely you won't accept the test after you waste your time testing. See a therapist for this mental health issue called anxiety.
