I had unprotected sex about 8 weeks ago and since then I have been administered HIV tests at clinics at weeks 3, 7 and 8.
The HIV test at week 3 and 7 were rapid Oraquick tests and both results were negative. The HIV test at week 8 was a finger pricking test that was also negative.
Should I still be worried that I might have HIV? I talked to the consulting doctor and she said that she has seen cases where patients have come in for a test 8 weeks past exposure and have tested negative, then taken the test at 12 weeks and tested positive.
I am also worried because as I was leaving the clinic I thought that the door handle had blood on it as I turned it. If the blood has come into contact with my bandage which covers the pricked hole, would there be a high chance that i could get infected. I don't know how long the last patient used the door handle but I would presume about 1-3 minutes.
