First time at Bathhouse Hot tub

Hello ,

Thank you for educating the public on HIV.

I visited the bathhouse for the first time last week. I didn’t have any sexual or physical contact with anyone.

However I spent a couple of minutes in the hot tub and I was a little worried about the potential of HIV in water . I was joined by two men in the bath tub who might have had sex before, but then shortly left the hot tub without any contact .

Does HIV lose its infectiousness in water . What prevents HIV present in water from infecting through the tip of your penis?

Does a visit to an hot tub in a bathhouse warrant testing ? I am a little anxious since it was my first time.

HIV isn't transmitted to other adults in ANY other way apart from having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, or by sharing intravenous needles.
