Late stage HIV always has poz PCR for RNA or DNA. Also always elisa antibody poz.
Thanks Howard Im really grateful for your reply, I have been trying to get a answer for this so thank you very much, so a PCR RNA OR DNA will always detect the virus at late stage, the reason for me asking this question is that i have been takeing symptoms of what pointed to late hiv my last possible exsposer was 15years ago, I did'nt really know much about hiv until i started to look for what could be causeing my symptoms, so if your a 100% about this Howard then that would put my mind at rest. Many thanks again and look foward to your reply...
Have a simple antibody test. Very accurate, especially if your exposure was so long ago.
Hi thanks for your reply i have had a 4th gen and it was negative but my fear is that this could be a false negative because i have had this for a possible 15years and did'nt know until i started to show my unexplained symptoms, so that's why i have asked about the PCR at late stage. Many thanks in Advance Mikey..
PCR-DNA Tests
Neither the Abbott RealTime nor the Roche COBAS AmpliPrep/COBAS TaqMan HIV-1 assay is intended to be used as a donor screening test for HIV-1 or as a diagnostic test to confirm the presence of HIV-1 infection.
