Laboratory Mistake and Syringe Question

I went to the lab to do a routine blood test couple of weeks ago. It was kind of an open lab. I was in a line. The lab person used the same syringe that he used on the person before me. So, the syringe was used on me only after 1 minute. Am I in any risk of contracting HIV? If not, then why not? If yes, then what should I do?

If you saw the same needle used on another patient, why did you allow them to use it on you?  Why didn't you request a new needle?  What did the administration say?

If you witnessed this, it needs reported at once, and you will need to be tested for any blood borne infections as a precaution.  You will need to consult with your doctor or a clinic.

Gentlemen,
Maybe I should have said it differently. The needed goes into your vain. Right? That is the part I am worried about. It was the same needle that was re-used on me.
I did confront the person about it on the spot. The facility just brushed it off. Then we counted the needles or syringes and it was one off, which increased my fear more…
Look, I am a logical person. I am merely telling you what happened. It is of course up to you to answer my questions. But I am not going to tell you a story…
Thx!

First, a SYRINGE isn't used to draw blood directly from a vein in the arm, secondly, like Teak said, there's no way a healthcare worker was reusing the same syringe as everyone stood in line watching.  There's also NO way you would have let someone draw your blood with the same equipment and not say something.  Come on now.

I'd suggest you get some help for your irrational thoughts.  This is obviously a situation where you've come up with a way to tell a story to get a risk assessment based on an irrational fear you have.

No I will not assume it did happen when it doesn't happen.

So the same needle was used to draw blood? Highly unlikely.
