Rapid HIV Testing at 6 weeks

Hello,

I am a female that performed unprotected oral on a male of unknown status back in July of this year. 6 weeks afterwards I had a rapid HIV test that came back negative.

When I called Planned Parenthood the person on the phone told me I was okay to test after 30 days, but when I got to the clinic the nurse told me that the test would not be anywhere near reliable at only 6 weeks post exposure.

Can I take the test results as accurate or is re-testing recommended?

Thanks in advance.
