Just to help you expand your vast knowledge of the different groups. (O,N and P).

Really you travel those areas with rare subtypes then let's give these people some of your knowledge. Where and how many people have been diagnosed with group N and group P. The only rare types are O, N, and P.

I am not claiming to be an expert but only speaking the truth of something it seems you were not aware of. I do not just remain isolated stateside in one state like Ohio. I travel to these countries of very high prevalence of HIV rare groups and sub-types and see what is going on with the CSW and some of the visiting businessmen from USA, Canada and Europe.

In your comment above to worried272011 "Reread what you were told. YOUR TESTING FACILITY WOULD KNOW WHAT TEST TO USE IN YOUR AREA"

I must seriously disagree with you and state that you are wrong.

I used to sail on a U.S. flag commercial cargo ship around the world as a merchant mariner. This ship had a crew size of 28 crewmembers. Over the 10 years I worked with the shipping company onboard this cargo ship with most crewmembers working a rotation of 90 days onboard then 30 days at home back in the USA. We called upon many ports in sub-Sahara Africa including in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Lagos, Nigeria and Douala, Cameroon. As you know this area has a high concentration of HIV-1 rare groups and HIV-2.

We also sailed to numerous ports in SE Asia and India.

I would have to admit that just about all these ports that the ship called upon had brothels with local women and sometimes women imported from different parts of the world. Just about any given time we would pull into one of these ports I would have to say about 1/3rd to 1/2 of the ship’s crew would go into these brothels for sex with the CSW. Remember these were all American citizens living in an American town and having sex with other Americans when there on time off at home.

This was just one ship out of 100+ USA flag ships that do the same in these foreign ports, also you need to consider the US Navy ships that pull unto some of these ports.

Remember where and how HIV originally came from and started.

Now I am currently employed as a project manager for an offshore oil and gas drilling/construction company where most of my work takes me on travels to Africa and Asia via air travel. During my travel I usually stay at 4 star hotels to keep safe. But at these hotels in Africa and Asia are usually CSW in the hotel lounge/bar. I have witness a lot of Americans, Canadians, and Europeans solicit sex services from these CSW.

So what is happening is that I am sure some of these "Johns" are coming into contact with these rare groups and sub-types and bringing the rare strain back to their home country.

So with this, I think if anyone has been exposed to HIV that they should have concerns for all groups and sub-types. Anyone in the world or in the USA can have HIV-2 or HIV-1 group N or P.

Just the other day I was talking with a Vice President of an oil and gas drilling company who stated that they had several case that a few of their rig employees was exposed to HIV and became infected. This certain rig is working just offshore Cameroon. When the rig hands crew off to home they would spend a night in Douala, Cameroon at a hotel. And guess what the hotel had crawling around in the hotel lounge/bar. The hotel lounge had enough CSW around to service all the hands that were crewing off to go back to the USA for their 45 days off at home with their wives or girlfriends and/or boyfriends, etc.... Since this certain drilling company had several cases of some of their employees contracting HIV while in transit during crew change the company changed their procedure where there is no night layover at a hotel. With what I have witness I am sure the USA will start to see a raise of several different groups and subtypes of HIV.

As you well know yourself HIV does not discriminate on race, country of origin, poor or wealthy.

So all I asked that you speak with the truth that if someone has a risk of being exposed then that risk can be of any type of HIV no matter where you live or what country you been exposed too.

Reread what you were told. YOUR TESTING FACILITY WOULD KNOW WHAT TEST TO USE IN YOUR AREA.

It contained HIV2 since 50% of HIV 2 cases in Asia are in India.I just made a quick Google search of N and P groups. It is said that they are isolated in Cameroon...is that correct

Because N and P and type 2 is not found in your location. HIV testing facilities know what to test for.

Sorry I mean to say my test didn't contained N and P groups...It only contained HIV1(M and O) and HIV 2

You are confusing groups and strains along with types. It's something you do not have to concern yourself with.

However I did a test i.e HIV DUO CMIA method it consisted of HIV 1(M and O) and HIV 2 stains. Why is it so? Are N and P strains not important or is it a faulty testing method...just curious.

There are only two types of HIV and they are 1 and 2
The groups consist of  M,N,O and P
The subtypes of HIV 1 in group M are A,B,C,D, F,G,H, J, K and CRFs.

There are no types, groups or subtypes that cannot be detected by ELISA test.

Your Hiv tests were conclusive and final, you need to accept this fact and move on.There is no delayed zero conversion and no rare subtypes that you need to be concerned about. You're safe.
