Why do doctors still say 3 months

Iam seeing alot of posts that say 12 weeks is conclusive. However everyone here is saying 4 weeks. Can someone please explain in detail why this is. I appreciate all of you who take the time to inform the rest of us.

The 12 weeks for conclusive result are mostly for the 3rd Gen Hiv Test, usually for the antibody test.
For the 4 weeks its the 4th gen hiv test which test for the virus itself,p24 and the antibody and because of the p24 test,it has a shorter window period than the older 3rd gen hiv test.

Thanks for responding. But ould you help me understand the 4th generation test. I understand that it looks for the p24 antigen, isnt that only detectable for a short period of time? Like 3 to 4 weeks? What about when it is no longer detectable at 4 weeks, and a person tests at 5 or 8 weeks?
The test is extremely sensitive, and does not miss HIV infections even after the antigen disappears.  Specialists rate it at over 99% accurate, which is as accurate, if not more accurate, than any test on the market for any disease. It is time for you to accept that you are conclusively negative and move on from this event.
