7 week negative test, what are the chances...?

Does anyone know what the odds are of testing negative  at 7 weeks after a possible exposure. Then taking the test at 12 weeks and it being positive???  What are my odds??? very scared, I feel like I have alot of symptoms.

Please advise....

Your fascination with the airtighness of the razors storage area is a good demonstration of your OCD/anxiety too. You completely ignore the facts of how HIV lives and is transmitted.

Youre story has been beaten into the ground repeatedly and asking over and over and starting new threads about the same thing isnt going to change anything. You dont have HIV. Your worries are really unwarranted.

You do have OCD or some type of anxiety which is what you should be worried about.

Lizzie, you seem to be really knowlegdable about different exposure risks... well, I just went and looked in the drawer where the razor was stored. and it was actually stored in a razor kit that closes with a latch. Does this mean that the virus didn't have enough chance to dry or die???

Please advise....

When I tested negative at 7 weeks after the cut, it was about 19 weeks after unprotected sex. i was told that test was conclusive for the sex.

If you never had unprotected anal or vaginal sex less than 3 months before you test then yes it is conclusive, because your last situation wasn't a risk and you don't need further testing.

Sooo... Should I be concerned about re-taking the test again at 12 weeks?? My negative at 7 weeks is pretty accurate, then??

your fears are unwarranted.  you were not at risk...PERIOD!  no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The samples that are used in research are not the same as found in humans. The levels in research are a lot higher than would ever be found in humans or animal.

dont be confused, It cannot survive in room conditions. For research purposes when the scientist want to be able to detect it long after it is stored they do so at extremely low temperatures. Anything above this temperature forget about survival you cant if tell if it was there in the first place. you are 100% safe.

It can't stay active outside its host.

-80 celcius? What are you talking about? That would be -112 degrees Fahrenheit.

it will only survive for that long at -80 Celcius, thats how seroconversion blood samples are stored for later research.

It was stored in a box in the drawer. Does that change the risk factor??

A razor blade your ex , a "believed to be" HIV poz, "may have" cut himself some 1 and a half weeks prior. HIV never transmitted this way and never will. Even if he used this blade and cut himself, HIV does not survive that longer in open environment, no way no how.

Thank you, I meant that the drawer was an UN opened drawer. can it contain itself if it's not out in the open air??

Thank you.

the exposure was a razor blade cut. that my ex boyfreind may have cut himself on 1 1/2 weeks prior. he is believed to be HIV+.   Can the virus live and still infect, if the blade was stored in an opened drawer??

Very scared.

If your exposure was an ac of unprotected anal or vaginal sex, needle stick or injection drug, then yes your seven week test result should be highly reassuring, (not conclusive) otherwise no matter how long it is after the "exposure" you will always get a negative result.
