Hiv/ community

Hello everyone. So I was diagnosed with hsv2. The current person I’m involved with knows this. Well last week I had an outbreak but was not aware because it seemed to be a minor one compared to others. My partner had been performing oral sex on me for a couple of weeks now unprotected .I also am aware that oral sex is safe sex but he was diagnosed as hiv positive as of yesterday. Am i at high risk for hiv   since he is positive and not on meds  and gave me a blow job while I had an active herpes outbreak?

I understand what you are asking, since a lot of sites say that you are higher risk for HIV when you have herpes.

However, just because you have herpes, it doesn't mean that things that are no risk for HIV suddenly become a risk. If something is not a risk for HIV, it will remain no risk.

We can talk about it more in the herpes forum if you want, but you really shouldn't be receiving unprotected oral sex when you have an outbreak. Your partner can get oral hsv2.

If you read what I had posted I had stated that I wasn’t aware of having an outbreak since it was a minor one meaning I didn’t notice or feel that I was having one. My concern was having an active outbreak with a hiv positive person who isn’t on meds.
I wouldn’t knowingly receive oral if I had known or know I’m having an outbreak
Sorry, I did miss that part. If you have questions about herpes, though, I'll be glad to help in the herpes forum. :)

Your situation involves personal contact with an object in air  (maybe blood, maybe cuts, wound, hand, mouth, etc. ) . You will be happy to learn that you had no risk, because you can't get hiv from personal contact except unprotected penetrating vaginal or anal with a penis, neither of which you did and you didn't share hollow needles to inject with which is the only other way to acquire hiv - there are ONLY 3 ways to get hiv. Note that 2 of them require a penis and the third requires a hollow injecting shared needle - there are no OTHER ways to get hiv. Analysis of large numbers of infected people over the 40 years of hiv history has proven that people don't get hiv in the way you are worried is a risk.
Hiv is a fragile virus in air or saliva and is effectively instantly dead in either air or saliva so the WORST that could happen is dead virus rubbed you, and obviously anything which is dead cannot live again so you are good. Blood and cuts would not be relevant in your situation since the hiv has become effectively dead, so you don't have to worry about them to be sure that you are safe.
There is no reason for a person to test when they are safe. The advice took into consideration that the other person might be positive, so move on and enjoy life instead of thinking about this non-event. hiv prevention is straightforward since there are only 3 ways you can become infected, so next time you wonder if you had a risk, ask yourself this QUESTION. "Did I do any of the 3?" Then after you ANSWER "No, there wasn't a penis in an anus or vagina and I wasn't injected" you will know that it's time to move on back to your happy life.
No one got hiv from what you did during 40 years of hiv history and no one will get it in the next 40 years of your life either.  You can do what you did any time and be safe from hiv.
The other person's status is irrelevant when you have no exposure to live virus.
If you still have questions about your risk, after reading all of the above, then it is because you didn't answer the QUESTION above.

Also I wasn’t aware if any cuts were present in his mouth even thought I didn’t see any blood on my penis during the time.

"I also am aware that oral sex is safe sex but he was diagnosed as hiv positive " No, you are not aware, because if you were aware you would not be asking if you had a risk! Do you think it is just safe when you have oral with a person who is hiv negative?
