Could I have HIV?

I performed oral sex on a guy I had been dating on Sunday. Almost shortly after my throat started to hurt. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said it looked like viral infection.  It's now been a week since the sexual encounter, my throat is still inflammed and I've been tired more than usual lately.  Please help, I'm not otherwise sexually active but i can't speak for my partner...

Oh my goodness! You would not be the 1 in 10,000! Can oral sex cause any other viral infections? Sure. Even kissing can give you a cold. Think about all the germs we may carry "down there!" If your sore throat persists, consider getting tests for chlamydia or gonorrhea (that I doubt you have). Other than that...you don't need to worry =) I'm just trying to relieve your anxiety. I went through the same thing and went through every std test in the book and I was fine! You don't have to worry....and remember..."if you don't know where it's been...don't put it in your mouth"

your viral infection has NOTHING to do with hiv.

hiv is NOT transmitted through oral sex.

Thanks. I know oral sex is a low risk situation but I did get a viral infection shortly after performing oral. It still has not gone away and I'm scared that I may be that 1 person in a 10,000 to get HIV from oral.

Can oral sex cause any other viral infections that result in a sore throat?

The expets here ay oral sex is a no risk situation plus i apears your symptoms are too early normally symptoms appear 2-4 weeks ater exsposure and cannot be used as a indication for hiv the only way to know is to test, but thats irrelevant as you have no risk

Youdid not have a HIV risk. To start if one got symptoms they do not start the next day but more important is that HIV has not been passed via oral sex.
