Am i just being paranoid?

Three nights ago, I had unprotected sex with a girl my friend knows. The next day my penis and groin were pretty sore. The day after that the tip of my penis was bruised and I still felt pain in my groin. I talked to the girl and she said that she was "clean as far as she was concerned", so I am worried that she may have an STD she is not aware of. It was also my first time having sex, so I figured it the bruise and soreness was due to inexperience. However, I woke up this morning with my groin still fairly sore, but I had a sore throat so I am concerned. I did not go down on her, all we did was kiss and have regular intercourse. As the day has progressed, my sore throat has felt much better.

My question is: Should I be very concerned about my situation or am I just acting paranoid? I have done a lot of research the past few days about STD's and many symptoms dont seem to appear this quickly. I also plan on getting checked, but I dont know when I should see a doctor or what I should test for. Any help would be very appreciated.

As I said, the chance is she didn't have HIV (unless she was an IV user or in another risk group). Likewise, the per-act risk of HIV transfer from female to male is also low. So the odds are very much in your favor. Yet, either CAN and does happen and is purely up to chance - and you don't want to play russian roulette with your health.

So the conclusion is: Don't panic. ALWAYS use a condom in the future. See a doc regarding your symtoms and test for HIV at 3 months for full reassurance.

Yea I cant believe I even I had unprotected sex my first time. I plan on wearing a condom in the future and am honestly not looking to have sex  unless I get into a relationship. I just pray that I get a second chance

Oh, and I forgot to mention, ALWAYS use a condom when having intercourse - otherwise you are gambling with your health.

As far as the symptoms are concerned they don't mean anything with respect to HIV, since they wouldn't show up that fast. However, you may have contracted another STD which might be worth checking out.

As far for HIV (which this forum is about), the risk for contracting it from one such encounter is relatively low and the odds she was infected are low too. Still, you did have unprotected sex so no one can guarentee you didn't get HIV from the encounter.
