Steroids alter 4th gen test?

I was wondering if being on steroids the day you test for hiv will affect your test and cause a false negative? I suffer from asthma and take a steroid inhaler daily and on the day I tested I was also taking additional steroid syrup around 40mg. It’s a pretty high dose. I was taking it for 1 week leading up to the test. And I was taking it even on the day of the test. My risk was unprotected vaginal intercourse.
I tested negative but now I’m really worried if my test was invalid. On Google the first result that pops up says yes steroids affect hiv tests as they suppress the immune system. I took the test on the 100th day. Please help

What was your exposure?

never mind,I see. Your test is accurate. The actual risk of a one time unprotected vaginal exposure is less than one percent so your negative result makes sense. Glad you tested and you should trust the result.

I see the article. It's old. It may apply to older versions of HIV testing, but not to tests used today.

I took the test in 2014 so how do I know if the test used was older version or not? Yes I know it’s been a long time but I am having some weird symptoms which have caused me to question my negative result.
Test again if you're worried but it's a waste of your time studying symptoms, then trying to analyze them. hiv doctors can't diagnose from symptoms so no one here pays attention to them, and you shouldn't either. Whatever symptom you have can be due to a different condition, disease or perhaps it's just in your imagination from fear.
I tested twice actually. Once in 2014 & once in 2017. But from the same lab so most likely it was the same test, and both times I was using steroids because of my allergies and asthma so now I don’t know what to do. How can I be sure that steroids don’t affect the tests?
This was an exposure from 2014? I wouldn't worry. Take another test, make it a 4th generation test, expect a negative. I would personally not feel the need to test again.
Ok thanks. Would 2017 test be more reliable even with steroid use?
There is NO WAY you have HIV and the test failed to pick it up after 3 years, no matter what. You don't have HIV.
I read on quora that if you still have symptoms then a NAT test is done. Is this true? Or is the 4th gen antibody/antigen test I took twice, enough to rule out HIV?
You're subconsciously googling for death and won't stop no matter what the facts are. Case in point, you continue trying to be a symptom analysis doctor with ZERO medical training, despite the fact that trained hiv docs can't do that. You should have zero faith in your own ideas, but you keep trying to work up an hiv theory using your impossible symptoms approach.

Can you just answer the question please. Do I need to do NAT test or not after two negative antibody/antigen tests?
Can you just reread all the advice and move on instead of ignoring that you've been told that you're negative? Over and over we've told you that, yet you don't believe it.

Also, I don't know why you keep coming back here with new questions, because you don't believe anyone here knows about hiv and in fact you believe that you are the only one here who knows about hiv. The reality is that you are the only one who doesn't accept the science.
You were answered already that you didn't need to even test. But still ask. I think you may need to work on addressing your anxiety. Talk to your doctor about this.
Didn’t need to test after having unprotected sex?! I think you guys don’t even read the questions properly. I’m literally asking a different question right now. For the last time, is my 4th gen test conclusive or is there a need for a different test like NAT? Please just answer this and I won’t ask again.
Your risk was LESS than one percent. Very low. 4th generation tests are conclusive. And thank you for not asking again.

NO. I don't know what you saw, but that isn't accurate.

The only medication that MIGHT cause a false negative is chemotherapy for cancer treatment.

Hi, is there any need to test with NAT? And is NAT and PCR the same thing?
